Talk Bowling – Episode #0040 – How to Hook a Bowling Ball

We recently released an article on How to Curve a Bowling Ball on bowlingball.com and noticed that it generated a little conversation in our comments.  So we decided to do a Talk Nowling episode all about it.  We tried to give a few more examples than we have in the past.  We hope this helps.

I am a stroker player who is limited to around second arrow. I want a bowling ball think will help me play more inside. I tryed the brunswick max zone thinking because hook rating will help. All that did was go straight. I was thinking maybe the storm invasion but when i was looking at the video on bowlingball.com john congdon wasnt in it, so its hard for me to get an idea of how deep i could play. John seems to have the lowest rev rate. Please if you have an suggestions on a ball and layout would be great. Welcome back guys…

    Hi Alain,

Thank you for watching. I was out of bowling for about six weeks because I did something to my wrist. I think my backswing was bad. :(

I still can't recommend the Virtual Energy highly enough. I have thrown that one on more patterns than any other, so I have more experience with it. I did throw the Evil Siege and C-System 3.5. Both were great as well. With my lower rev rate, I prefer a pearlized ball to help it get down the lane and retain energy.

    Those are my thoughts…

I am looking forward to being in the future videos, as many people seem to like our mix of talent. My lower speed, lower rev rate, up to Tony and Brian's higher speeds.

Nice to see you guys are still alive!

Question about your Storm Reign video's. Noticed you all have a balance hole drilled out and I picked up a Reign from my local pro shop but they didnt bother doing that with my ball. It's almost the same layout as Tony's but they didnt do the balance hole.

Would not doing the balance hole make it inconsistant or is it not that big of a deal?
